NEW £10 million funding now open for Changing Places toilets in Scotland
The Scottish Government has officially launched a new round of Changing Places Toilets funding, offering a major opportunity to improve accessibility and inclusion across Scotland.
With £10 million available over the financial years 2025/26 and 2026/27, the Changing Places Toilets Scotland Fund aims to increase the number of fully accessible toilet facilities in communities where provision is currently limited.
At Multicare Medical, we welcome this initiative and are here to support organisations through every stage of the application, design, and installation process.
Why Changing Places toilets matter
Changing Places Toilets are specialist facilities designed to meet the needs of people with complex disabilities who cannot use a standard accessible toilet. These larger spaces include essential equipment such as:
-
An adult-sized height-adjustable changing bench
-
A ceiling track hoist system
-
Adequate space for a wheelchair user and up to two carers
-
A privacy screen and accessible toilet
Without access to these facilities, thousands of individuals and families are excluded from everyday activities that many take for granted, including shopping trips, days out, sporting events, or cultural experiences.
You can read all about why these facilities are so critical, who they are for, the legal requirements, how to comply with regulations, and how to get started on our Changing Places information page here.
Who can apply for funding?
The Changing Places Toilets Scotland Fund is open to a range of applicants, including:
-
Non-profit organisations
-
Small businesses
-
Community venues
-
Local authorities
-
Tourist attractions and leisure facilities
Applicants can apply for project costs and up to £10,000 in development costs. The fund prioritises locations with limited existing Changing Places toilet provision and aims to ensure facilities are thoughtfully planned, fully compliant, and sustainably delivered.
The deadline for applications is Monday 20th October 2025 at 12pm.
