Whole Home Ceiling Hoist Installation for Complex Case Needs
Multicare Medical was appointed to deliver a large-scale ceiling hoist installation within a private home in the West Midlands, creating a fully integrated moving and handling solution to support a family member with complex mobility needs. Working closely with architects, OTs, case managers, builders, and the wider project team, Multicare delivered a phased programme of ceiling hoist installations across several key living, therapy, and wellbeing spaces within the property.
The project included six separate Guldmann GH3 ceiling hoist systems, each carefully designed around the specific requirements of the room, the surrounding structure, and the practical needs of the family and care team.
The Challenge: Delivering multiple complex ceiling hoist installations within a large, design-led family home
This was a highly coordinated project involving several specialist ceiling hoist systems installed across different areas of the home, each with unique structural, functional, and aesthetic requirements.
Key challenges included:
- Designing multiple full-room coverage XY systems across a variety of room layouts and environments
- Coordinating installations alongside ongoing building and adaptation works involving multiple trades and contractors
- Designing structural support solutions where ceiling fixing was not suitable, including wall-mounted systems and bespoke support posts
- Providing reliable equipment suitable for long-term daily use by both family members and external carers
- Ensuring all equipment was intuitive and comfortable for carers, therapists, and support staff to use confidently
Particular consideration was required within the therapy pool area, where the size and layout meant a traditional ceiling-fixed installation was not appropriate. Multicare designed a bespoke wall-post mounted XY system to provide full coverage across the pool and surrounding therapy areas while maintaining open access throughout.
The Result: A fully whole-home hoisting solution designed around everyday life, therapy, and wellbeing
Multicare designed and installed six Guldmann GH3 ceiling hoist systems throughout the property, creating a connected, flexible moving and handling solution tailored to the family’s long-term needs. The systems provide safe and efficient transfers across key living areas, therapy spaces, and wellbeing environments, helping reduce physical strain on carers while supporting comfort, dignity, and independence for the user.
A combination of ceiling-mounted, wall-mounted, through-door, and post-supported XY systems were used throughout the project to achieve full room coverage across each space while working sympathetically with the building structure and interior design requirements.
The Guldmann GH3 hoist system was selected for its smooth operation, robust design, and constant charge functionality, making it well suited to the demands of continuous daily use across multiple rooms within the home. The completed large-scale project allows the family to fully access and enjoy the home together, whether in shared living spaces, attending therapy sessions, using the swimming pool and wellness areas, or simply relaxing together in a comfortable, thoughtfully designed environment.
The result is a large-scale, discreetly integrated ceiling hoist solution that balances complex clinical requirements with the warmth, functionality, and atmosphere of a modern family home.
Solution Highlights:

- Full room coverage solutions and through-door transfer routes
- Design-led integration to maintain a nonclinical home environment
- Complex phased coordination alongside wider adaptation works
